Catching up posts today. This is a really good one. Goals for the year and how to keep the phone from being a constant distraction from the goals! As I was reading this (on my laptop) my phone was buzzing away with text messages, but the other notifications are mostly gone so that's helpful. I really need to write lists so I stick to what I prioritize instead of what someone puts in front of me as *their* priority. I think that's going to be my 2025 goal.
Writing lists is a good idea, I have so many lists! Have you ever read the book, Lazy Genius? There's a podcast too. One of her principles is to name what matters. So figure out what matters to you in 2025 and make that your guide for everything else.
My debut PB comes out in March 😱 So I think 2025 will be a busy one for me, but a goal I have is to complete a chapter book manuscript to send to my agent by the end of the year. On top of lots of editing work and needing to complete illustrations for my second book, I think that's a big enough goal 😅
Ahh what a huge year it will be for you, congratulations! And definitely a big goal for a cb! I’m just finishing up next week’s post about the process behind Ava Lin, so maybe there will be some good stuff in there for you. Looking forward to seeing your debut hit the shelves!
These are off the top of my head in response to your post, and I should spend some more time thinking about my list. But these two for sure need to be on it: 1) Get the PB I'm currently revising to "Done" and start querying it. 2) Get a first draft written of a story with real potential--meaning I am in love with it, even after the first draft and that I see multiple hooks and/or a solid theme the story can carry. (I guess this could be a fresh draft of an older story, too!)

Oh amazing! Thanks so much, Vicky! I'll keep an eye out <3

Love it! Both sound like great goals.
Good start on your list! Thanks for sharing ❤️
