Today, in Part Three, we will look at the art of pitching chapter books. We’ll share real world examples and give you the breakdown of the elements included in the pitch. We’ll also talk about how we approach creating a pitch that will stand out and sell your idea.
The Goal
Obviously, the goal of the pitch is to sell your book! But sometimes we get bogged down in the details and lose track of the bigger picture, so let’s start off at the high level. There are certain practical elements that you will need to include to sell you book, and we’ll go through each of these. HOWEVER. You know your book the best, and your book may require special pitch elements or to get the idea across. Think about what you need to share with the agent/editor to really highlight the following:
What is your idea
Why does the world need this story now
Why are you the person to write it
